Survey reveals best cities for immigrants.

When you are a property investor thinking about expanding your portfolio of rentals, there are many things you will want to take into consideration as you research investment opportunities.

At times, information can come from unexpected quarters. One such source may be immigration2australia.com, a website providing practical information of a general nature, which they say is based on the knowledge and practical experience of people who have successfully immigrated to Australia.

In February, they released results of an independent survey into the best cities for the 195,000 permanent migrants moving to Australia this year, many of whom will look for somewhere to rent.

Immigration to Australia commissioned an independent survey of 1002 Australians to identify the best cities for immigrants moving to Australia permanently, based on eight key factors of habitability.

They were asked which city:

  • is the most welcoming city to immigrants?
  • is the best place to start a business?
  • is the best place for well-paying job opportunities?
  • is the most family-friendly?
  • has the best value?
  • has the best lifestyle?
  • is the safest?
  • has the best climate?

And could choose from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart and Darwin.

Melbourne ranked first as the most welcoming city for immigrants, attracting 36% of votes. The city was also chosen as top family-friendly city, with 23% of votes.

Melbourne and Sydney tied for first place as the best cities to start a business, garnering 31% of votes. Sydney also took the honours as the top city for well-paying jobs, chosen by 40% of respondents.

Hobart placed first as the safest city (37%) while Brisbane was deemed the best both for lifestyle (24%) and for climate (37%).

Neither Darwin nor Perth managed a first place in any category, but you can see the full results at https://immigration2australia.com/best-city-for-immigration/
