Staging To Sell

Selling your home is almost the same as selling your car. You make preparations before you let prospective buyers view or test drive your car. These preparations include getting it squeaky clean inside and out, replacing the batteries with a new one and slapping on new tires. Basically, you want the buyer to have an impression that your car has been well taken care of and is in good running condition. The same goes with selling your home, getting a fresh coat of paint on the walls, trimming the hedges on your driveway and performing minor repairs to make your house look clean and fresh. Buyers usually form their opinion within the first ten seconds of entering the front door of your house. This is where home staging comes in.

Here are some tips on how you can stage your home so that it will be in its most appealing form before the buyers step in your home.

Remove Clutter

This should be on the top of your list during the staging process. You need to get rid of unnecessary items in your home that takes up space. This step will free up space and make it easier for you to redecorate during the process because you have some extra room to work with. If you decide to keep items, you should hide them in cupboards or drawers and make sure that they are also neatly packed and organized in case your guests wants to get a little sneaky.

Fresh Paint

Bright and Neon colors aren’t for everyone, so giving your walls a fresh coat of paint of warm and neutral colors like white, cream or flesh will make it appealing and will impress more prospective buyers than having a very strong and bright paint. This will also help you cover those minor nicks in your walls.

Decorations

Consider investing in some decor to liven up the home but you should also be wary that your personal taste may not be very appealing to others, keeping it simple is the best way to go. Mirrors usually work best in rooms, they make the rooms look a lot bigger, remove those personal photos to help buyers recreate and imagine themselves living in your house.

Make it look and feel inviting

A great first impression will not be complete without a welcoming environment. During the home open, you can play relaxing music and use air fresheners or candles to make your home smell fresh and clean. Recreate a relaxing environment by using ambient lighting and this provides comfort to the buyers eyes. If you have pets at home, make sure that all your rugs and carpets have also been cleaned.
