Moving

Moving home is considered as one of life’s biggest causes of stress.  The cost and manpower needed to move to a new home alone is enough to cause you stress, not to mention the time you need to allot for preparation. This can sometimes also affect your work or business. The good news is that if you plan ahead and prepare for situations that could potentially affect your move, you can make moving homes as smooth as sliding a hot knife over butter.

Here are some of the things you can look into before the big day to potentially reduce other unnecessary things to go wrong.

Utilities

The most basic of utilities will cause you the biggest problems when not prepared. Contacting your phone, cable and internet providers before the move is a good idea so that they may also prepare to transfer your services to another location. Setting a schedule with your utility providers during the moving phase will ensure that you won’t have to wait for days up to week waiting for the telephone line to be connected. It helps preparing these in advance.

Clutter

There is no better time to declutter than the time when you are about to move. Going through your stuff from room to room to assess which things are you bringing to the new home and which should you leave. Selling or setting up a garage sale for the things you won’t be bringing will net you some extra cash that you can spend on the moving costs or getting new stuff for the new home.

Security

Before leaving your old home a lot of moving experts recommend that you round up keys from neighbors that you have left in case of emergencies. This also applies to the new home, they recommend changing new locks on your new home too, you never know who has keys and access to your house.
